Meribel is located in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps, near the town of Moûtiers. The village is located in Vanoise National Park and is part of the "Three Valleys" interconnected ski system.

Méribel Les Allues is a ski resort with its center about 1400 meters above sea level.

Meribel is home to the 1992 Winter Olympics in Alberville. It hosted hockey and downhill skiing events. Until 2011, Meribel was the director of the acclaimed Altitude Festival, and prestigious acts such as KT Tunstall, Marcus Brigstock and Omid Diyalili performed in the resort’s bars and nightclubs. Currently, Meribel has a lot of individual mountain houses (chalets), which are usually rented out to skiers

The ski resort is part of the Three Valleys ski area. The three valleys include 180 lifts, 335 marked descents (more than 600 kilometers long) and more than 130 km of cross-country trails. The three valleys include the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania, Meribele, Les Menuires-Saint Martin, Val Thorens and Orelle.
